Next on the list of Universe releases was the first wave of Legends class which comprised of “Classics” Onslaught, Red Alert and Starscream.

Unlike the Deluxe class that was just reviewed, none of these are new molds and all are repaints of old molds that have either been used in the Cybertron series or previous Classics series.  Ironically, Onslaught is even a repaint of Cybertron Legends Red Alert whom is now a repaint of Cybertron Legends Hot Shot (which had a re-release here not so long ago).

The Animated launch assault continues with the Activators series.  This is a new range of toys aimed squarely at the youngsters that used to receive the Legends class and indeed the age guidance on these is now 4+ instead of the 5+ recommendation that the Legends class received.  So, Hasbro are out to get even more sales by trying to appeal to the 3-4 year old market now?  Makes me feel proud to be amongst that age range!!! 

Size-wise, they are bigger then the Legends but still about 50% of the size of a Deluxe class so not such a bad size really.  Pricing is also about half way between the price of the Legends and Deluxe classes too so it fills the gap quite nicely.

The wait is over!  Transformers Animated are finally here in their boxes and you no longer need to pay 2 or 3 times their retail values to get them out of box with no instructions.  The first wave of Voyager class are here in the form of Cybertron Mode Megatron, Starscream and Bulkhead and whilst they are based on cartoon vehicles as opposed to real world machines that we have been used to recently, they still look as good as if not better than their Movie counterparts and exhibit the same amount of engineering and gimmicks that we have seen on the Movie lines; namely automorph in these cases being Voyager class.

It has finally landed – the TakaraTomy version of the Hasbro G1 version of the TakaraTomy Transformers Masterpiece Starscream MP-03 (!).

Was it worth the wait?  Well, yes and no.  It looks amazing for a start and has the advantage over the real MP-03 in that you can see what you get inside the box as opposed to the picture and solid cardboard box.  But…  We’ve seen it all before.
